The House Across The Street | Slaney Bay

If you haven't heard of the female-fronted three-piece indie band from South West London, Slaney Bay, you’ve been missing out! Made up of four childhood friends, the band were formerly known as Flux and have started a new chapter in their music careers this year. The band have featured in Flare Magazine before with their debut single and are made up of three incredibly talented musicians; guitarist and lead vocalist Caitlin Whitley, lead guitarist William Nicola-Thompson and bassist and vocalist Joel Martin.

Slaney Bay released their debut single Talking About You on June 16th which I definitely recommend listening to! The band have now followed their amazing debut with a new single. The House Across The Street was released last month and is a “soaring indie-rock/pop track, with melodic female vocals and piercing guitar- reminiscent of a mix between Wolf Alice, The 1975 and The Vaccines.”

The House Across The Street has a strong energy from the moment it begins, the guitar led opening really sets the single well within the indie rock genre right from the start. This contrasts the light and almost ethereal feel the vocals have when they come in in a highly effective way. The track gets going quickly, and it takes no time at all for you to start subconsciously bopping along to it!

The energy brought in at the start of the song is kept up all the way through, making it easy to hear the influences throughout the track. The catchy melody only adds to that and makes The House Across The Street one of those songs that you just pick up without realising it. When you inevitably press repeat, you’ll be singing along before you even realise it!

The House Across The Street is perfect for your road trip playlists, it's energetic, easy to sing along to and definitely shows how much the band love music! It's a seriously strong sophomore single and while it has a very different feel to Talking About You, the track fits well with the band’s debut. Slaney Bay have kept up their high standard of music with this single, I’d highly recommend giving it a listen!

Slaney Bay are a band to keep an eye on! I've said it before and I'm standing by it - I think we can expect some incredible things from them! Make sure to give the band a follow on social media to ensure you don’t miss out on anything new! Give Flare Magazine a follow on social media too to keep up with the new music coming out across the UK and get in touch if you’re releasing something new!
